AFTA releases Submission to the Review on Consumer Protection in the Travel Industry


In May 2009, the Ministerial Council on Consumer Affairs announced a review into the consumer protection measures in the travel industry.

PricewaterhouseCoopers were appointed in January 2010 to conduct the review. Upon issuing an Issue Paper they called for submissions to the review.

AFTA has prepared a comprehensive submission which address all the key elements of the Terms of Reference and the questions asked within the PWC issues paper.

As AFTA members would be aware, the long awaited review of consumer protection in the travel industry has commenced.

An issues paper, prepared by consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers has been released and submissions from interested parties are requested by 9 April 2010.

AFTA Discussion Paper – New Regulation and Consumer Protection in the Travel Industry


In 2009, AFTA prepared a discussion paper to outline a proposed new model for the regulation of the travel industry including how best to provide consumer protection. This paper explores the past and outlines a new model in which AFTA will be seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders.

This paper was prepared in advance of the Review of Consumer Protection in the Travel Industry, announced by the Ministerial Council of Consumer Affairs, which will be conducted by consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
