Major Roadworks Update - CityLink Western Link (Tullamarine Freeway)
Tue 27 Dec - Sun 8 Jan - 24 hour works
Delays expected for people travelling to Melbourne Airport.
|
Major road works are currently underway on CityLink’s Western Link (Tullamarine Freeway).
There are significant resurfacing works being carried out OUTBOUND (airport bound) on CityLink between Mt Alexander Road and Pascoe Vale Road. Only TWO lanes will be available to traffic between 5am and 8pm. Only ONE lane will be available to traffic between 8pm and 5am. Delays are expected in afternoon peak.
These important works are part of an ongoing asphalt maintenance program and are evidence of CityLink's commitment to providing a high quality, well maintained road for Melbourne commuters.
As part of the general upkeep of a road, asphalt needs to be replaced every 10 to 15 years. CityLink was first opened in 1999 so these important maintenance works are now due.
These works have been deliberately scheduled at a time of year when traffic volumes are low however, there will be lane closures, reduced speed limits and some ramp closures.
Delays are also expected, particularly during the afternoon peak.
We urge drivers to:
1) Plan your journey
2) Allow plenty of extra time
3) Consider alternate routes
Details of the works can also be found at www.citylinkroadworks.com.au
